PACIFIC OCEAN (Apr. 30, 2008) Chief Master-at-Arms Mary McQuain hugs her rescuer Senior Chief Damage Controlman Wesley Lief Lairson, who she praised at his departmental quarters for saving her life the day before. McQuain was choking on some food and unable to breathe until Lairson found her and performed the Hiemlich maneuver to clear her airway. Blue Ridge serves under Commander, Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG) 7/Task Force (CTF) 76, the Navy's only forward-deployed amphibious force. Blue Ridge is the flagship for Commander, U.S. 7th Fleet.
