Antonio Mancini (1852-1930) was born in Rome and studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Napoli. Mancini's style was characterised by loose brushstrokes and a vivid use of colour, which he used to capture the essence of his subjects. He was known for his ability to paint with great speed and accuracy, often completing a portrait in a single sitting. Mancini's work was highly regarded during his lifetime and he exhibited extensively throughout Europe and the United States. Today his paintings can be found in many major museums and private collections around the world.
