John Quidor (1801—1881) was an American genre painter and artisan. In 17 of his approximately 35 paintings he depicted subjects from Washington Irving’s stories: e.g., the paintings Ichabod Crane at the Van Tassel’s Ball (1855), The Money Diggers (1832), and Rip Van Winkle (1829).
