Boxwood Gardens - National Parks Gallery
Summary
Montrose Park. It is unknown when the Boxwood Gardens were first planted. There is speculation that English landscape designer John Small first designed this feature in the 1850s. It seems that an intricate design shown in the 1913 plan by Burnap was too difficult to maintain in a public park, and the layout was simplified. This view shows the boxwood gardens as they appeared in 2003, in an overgrown condition.
