François Bouchot was a French painter and engraver who lived from 1800 to 1842. He was born in Paris and his work focused mainly on historical and genre scenes. Bouchot studied under the painter Pierre-Narcisse Guérin and exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1824. Bouchot's works often depicted historical events or scenes from literature, and he was known for his skilful use of light and shadow. He gained recognition for his detailed and realistic portrayals, particularly in his engravings.
