Bodleian Libraries, Le siecle des primitifs flamands
Summary
Textured goatskin. English, c. 1960. Ivor Robinson (born 1924). Coarse-grained red goatskin, both covers with irregular black cross, upper with gilt crucified figure. British designer bookbinder Ivor Robinson taught at the Oxford Polytechnic. This binding shows his concern for texture as an element of the binding aesthetic.
