Summary
San Diego, Calif. (Feb. 08, 2005) Aviation Ordnance Airman Nicholas Gravesande models the new concept Navy Working Uniform while explaining the safety precautions of using the 25mm MK-38 machine gun aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Tarawa (LHA 1). The Mk-38 25mm machine gun system is a single-barrel, air-cooled, heavy machine gun capable of firing 175 rounds per minute. The Navy introduced a set of concept working uniforms for Sailors E-1 through O-10, Oct. 18, 2004, in response to the fleet's feedback on current uniforms. Four different uniform pattern types will be tested this winter at various locations throughout the world. Each uniform offers a variety of options that Sailors will have the opportunity to choose from. Feedback from the fleet will be used to determine the final Navy Working Uniform.
