AUGUSTA BAY, Italy (April 10, 2018) Marines assigned to 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) observe Mt. Etna as the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock USS New York (LPD 21) departs Augusta Bay, Italy, after a scheduled port visit April 10, 2018. The 26th MEU and New York are conducting naval operations in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations. U.S. 6th Fleet, headquartered in Naples, Italy, conducts the full spectrum of joint and naval operations, often in concert with allied and interagency partners, in order to advance U.S. national interests and security and stability in Europe and Africa.
