Armchair (France), ca. 1910 (CH 18471369)
Summary
This upholstered armchair has closed arms and a separate seat cushion. The armchair's contour-edged and gilded frame is arched and has a curved back rail with down-turned "ears." The chair's outcurving arms flow into its front legs, terminating in pointed feet on supports. The chair's rear legs are square, slightly outcurved, and moulded on their outer surface. Upholstery is a multicolor pastel silk needlepoint on ivory ground, depicting a vase, round flowers, vines and leaves.
