Significance: This shipyard is most notable for retaining the last steam powered winch on the West Coast. The winch powers the marine railway and allows ships to be "pulled" from the water for repairs. A brief write-up on the site may be found in the San Francisco Examiner July 29, 1975 (p. 45).
