Summary
Naval Air Station North Island, Calif. (Jan. 08, 2004) A retired A-6 Intruder is hoisted aboard the decommissioned aircraft carrier Midway at Naval Air Station North Island, Calif. Midway is moored temporarily at the naval station to take-on restored historical aircraft. The historic ship will be relocated and homeported across the bay in San Diego, as the centerpiece for America's largest museum devoted to carriers and naval aviation. When commissioned on September 10, 1945 as USS Midway (CVB 41) she was the largest carrier ever put to sea.
