Summary

'A Prospect of Grenwich Hospitall for seamen as designed and advancing Ao.1699'
This perspective view was previously dated circa 1730 since it correlates with a 1728 plan by Hawksmoor in the RIBA for the proposed expansion of the Hospital, notable for the buildings and the apsidally ended court in the mid-right distance. However this cannot be the case, since the domed King William and Queen Mary Courts (the latter not started until 1735) are still shown as consisting of three parallel east-west ranges as in the Nutting plan of 1799 (RIBA). This is not how either were built, King William being largely complete by 1707 as an open courtyard. Kip also died in 1722, so if by him it must be earlier.
