( 257 ) CHAPTER X. CONSTRUCTIVE CONCRETE APPLICATIONS. In the preceding chapters we have discussed the varioussystems of artificial stone and concrete making in this andother countries. We will now proceed to describe and illus-trate other manufactures which aim at an advantageouscombination of concrete with various other constructivematerials. In the more substantial and perhaps less accu-rately resulting products of blocks and other forms, such asthose produced in beton agglomere, *Sorel stone, andVictoria, and other silicated stone, we have shown theadvantages derivable from their employment in such worksas those for which they are suitable. The uses to whichthese several processes are applicable may be regarded aslimited to the strictly substantial operations of the engineerand architect, and to which it is not desirable or necessaryto introduce ornamentation, except in a comparatively-limited degree.
