Bound in red morocco; gold tooled, with the arms of Charles de Castellan gold-stamped on both covers, triple-rule frame borders, spines with raised bands gilt in compartments, each compartment stamped with an interlaced "C" with the exception of the title compartment, which is stamped in gilt; all edges gilt; marbled endpapers; unsigned Parisian binding, ca. 1663.The work includes the scholia of a 9th century manuscript known as the Codex Pithoeanus after its first editor, Pierre Pithou (Petrus Pithoeus).
