A merchant mariner from the M/V Endurance, a contracted vessel from Military Sealift Command, throws a heaving line ashore during exercise DEFENDER-Europe 20. This exercise will not only test the U.S. military’s abilities, it will also intentionally stress the ability of our NATO allies and partners to receive and move a large force, requiring the support of tens of thousands of service members and civilians in multiple nations across the theater.
