A 71M Aerostat Test Balloon sits awaiting lift off from the Aerostat Test Bed at McGregor Range, New Mexico. The aerostat can elevate to 15,000 feet above sea level and will be able to track fast moving aircraft and cruise missiles with a range up to 150 nautical miles by radar, which is located under the belly of the aerostat. The aerostat will be used by the Blue (friendly) Forces during Exercise ROVING SANDS '96
