Summary

Two U.S. Navy Douglas A-4B Skyhawks (BuNo 142126, 144943) from a detachment of Fleet Defense Fighter Squadron VSF-1 "War Eagles" are waiting to be launched from the U.S. anti-submarine aircraft carrier USS Yorktown (CVS-10) during a dependents day cruise, in 1966. The VSF-1 detachment was assigned to Anti-Submarine Carrier Air Group 55 (CVSG-55) for a deployment to Vietnam from 5 January to 27 July 1966. Four Grumman S-2E Trackers are passing the Yorktown. Note that the A-4Bs have the VSF-1 tail code "NA", whereas CVSG-55's tail code was "NU". Over 4,000 family-day cruise visitors enjoyed the air show.
