190304-M-YD783-11 GULF OF OMAN (MARCH 6, 2019) U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Aikehl McTush, a radio operator with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, plays a snare practice pad during downtime in the well deck of the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD-3). Lance Cpl. McTush, a Maritime Raid Force Marine, formerely played drums for the Indiana Pacers basketball team and continues to practice his skills in preparation for rejoining them. Marines and Sailors with the 22nd MEU and Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group are deployed to the 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
