(Sept. 20, 2013) From the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory control room at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP), cardiovascular technician Hospitalman Jesse Wayer monitors the patient’s vital signs and documents each step in the angioplasty procedure. The Cardiac Catheterization Lab staff cares for patients during planned procedures, but also provides care for heart attack patient who present to NMCP’s emergency room around the clock and are required to be at the facility within 30 minutes of activation of heart attack protocols.
