Nuku Hiva sõdalane - Nuku Hivan warrior (9614486482)

Nukuhiivalased olid tugevalt tätoveeritud erinevate geomeetriliste kujunditega. Nende tätoveeringud omasid ka teatud sotsiaalset tähendust – mida tugevamini tätoveeritud, seda tähtsama isikuga oli hõimustruktuuris tegemist. Kohalik tätoveerija leidis laeva peal rohkelt tegevust, tätoveerides muu seas ka Krusensternile tema abikaasa Julia nime.

The Nuku Hivans were heavily tattooed with different geometrical shapes. Their tattoos also had a certain social meaning – the more tattoos someone had, the higher was his standing in the tribe. The local tattooist had a lot to do on the ship, with even Krusenstern getting a tattoo of his wife Julia’s name.
