Hiroshi Yoshida (1876-1950) was a Japanese artist known for his woodblock prints and paintings. He was born in Tokyo and studied at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts. He later travelled to Europe and the United States where he was influenced by Western art styles. Yoshida is best known for his landscape prints, often depicting scenes from Japan, China and India. He was skilled at using colour and light to create a sense of depth and atmosphere in his prints. His work was popular both in Japan and abroad, and he exhibited his prints in Europe and the United States. In addition to his prints, Yoshida also painted in oil and watercolour. His paintings often depicted similar landscapes to his prints, but with a greater emphasis on realism. He was also a prolific writer and published several books on art and travel. Today Yoshida is considered one of the most important Japanese printmakers of the 20th century. His work continues to be admired for its technical skill and beauty.
