Ships Through the Ages: The Ship of Romance - "Great Harry"
Summary
Built by King Henry VIII in the 16th century, this vessel was of more than a thousand tons burden and it carried 34 large guns and a vast armament of smaller guns. It was called "Great Harry" which served as a pattern for all the naval engineers of the next hundred and fifty years. In the background of the painting is the "Mary Rose," the "ship of the cloth of gold."
