John William Waterhouse - The Lady of Shalott - Google Art Project (derivative work - AutoContrast edit in LCH space)
Summary
This is a derivative work based on the Google Art Project image here (see Gallery below). The file has been reduced in size and the image lightened in LCH space, a colour space designed to approximate the visual experience. The purpose was to lighten the image without affecting the hue and saturation of its colours. The tool used was the AutoContrast edit in LCH space in Nikon's Capture X2 image processing software.
John William Waterhouse (1849–1917) is best known for embracing the legacy of Pre-Raphaelite artists – a group of English poets, painters, and critics who rebelled against the art establishment and the mechanic approach to art first adopted by Mannerist artists. Instead, Pre-Raphaelite artists took inspiration from Early Renaissance painting and Romantic painters, championing artistic individuality and individual methods of depiction.
