Cima da Conegliano, whose full name was Giovanni Battista Cima da Conegliano, was an Italian Renaissance painter born around 1459 in Conegliano, a town in the Veneto region of Italy. He worked in the late 15th and early 16th centuries and is best known for his religious paintings, particularly altarpieces. Cima da Conegliano's style was influenced by the Venetian school of painting and he is often associated with artists such as Giovanni Bellini and Giorgione. His works are characterised by their serene compositions, delicate palette and attention to naturalistic detail. Some of his most notable works include "The Incredulity of St Thomas", "Madonna and Child with Saints" and "St Jerome in the Wilderness". Cima da Conegliano's paintings are admired for their lyrical beauty and spiritual depth, contributing to the artistic landscape of the Italian Renaissance. He died around 1517, leaving a legacy of accomplished religious art.
