After two days of a historic amount of rainfall totaling

description

Summary

After two days of a historic amount of rainfall totaling 24 inches, Fort Jackson, S.C., sought to get back to business as usual. Here a simple traffic sign warns oncoming vehicular traffic of a massive crater in the road after the rains washed away the Semmes Lake dam located at the corner of Essayons and Semmes leaving the lake empty and the muddy bottom exposed. A handful of ducks and and a few onlookers were the only visible signs of life in the lake area. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. 1st Class Brian Hamilton)
