Print shows on the right, a woman, "la réligion" (possibly representing the Virgin Mary), labeled no. 1, standing, holding a cross illuminated by the sun, on the left, a cluster of figures includes an angel-like woman with butterfly wings and a plumed crown who reaches to pull "le Clergé", labeled no. 2, and "la Noblesse", labeled no. 3, from the clutches of a woman/serpent with Medusa-like head, moneybag in one hand and on the ground at her waist (possibly representing greed), and standing alone at center is a man, "le Tièrs etat", labeled no. 4, who reaches for the woman with the cross, his spade, hat, and flag on the ground at his feet.
