Record dives--deep as 500 feet--have been recently made at the Navy Yard here and off the USS Falcon Submarine rescue vessel operating from Portsmouth, N.H. by divers using Navy standard diving suits and with a mixture of helium-oxygen for air supply. A depth of 500 feet was reached under simulated sea conditions in the diving tank at the Navy Yard here. Heretofore 306 feet was the greatest depth reached by divers wearing standard rubber diving suits. (1) H.H.
